Food Technologist

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Food Technologist to help with all tasks related to New Product Development and improving current products. To maintain the high quality and great tasting products the organisation is known for, on-going collaboration with suppliers is also essential.

Reporting to the Director, this key role includes development of product, packaging and process, plant trials and validations, operations support, specification development and productivity opportunities.

The role tasks include, but are not limited to:

Developing new and modifying/improving existing product ranges;
Providing support to Production & QA and help resolve technical issues;
Evidence of being able to work cooperatively with sales, operations, supply chain and procurement;
Successfully managing and delivering New Product Development from concept to commercialisation;
Managing development of packaging and design;
Ensuring ingredients conform with current compliance, regulatory as well as brand requirements;
Reviewing and improving product development methods, procedures and processes;
Ensuring product quality, safety and compliance;
Performing analysis of all new products and report results;
Management and execution of trials and new product-related projects;
High level of record-keeping, compliance, and confidentiality;
Other relevant tasks and projects as required.
Own and update the product library with all required technical information
Sensory analysis and evaluation

Skills & Experience:

A tertiary qualification in Food Science or related industry
3 years Product Development experience with a food manufacturer
Ability to multitask and prioritize work
Time management skills to achieve deadlines, work under conflicting time pressures
Proficient knowledge of computer skills such as MS office (Word, Excel)
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent analytical, problem solving and organisational skills
A willingness to learn and adapt to changes
Ability to work independently or as part of a team and work to the plan;
Real passion and enthusiasm for food manufacturing and innovation
