
The National General Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operational leadership of. The role leads the franchise network, drives national growth, and ensures franchisee performance, brand consistency, operational excellence, and commercial success across all franchise territories.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a growing, founder-led business. The successful candidate will bring strong general management capability, genuine commercial acumen, and the ability to build trusted relationships with franchise owners — many of whom are builders and trades people running their own businesses in regional and metro communities.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with the founding directors to execute the national strategic plan
- Lead long-term growth initiatives, including new franchise territory recruitment and establishment
- Identify market opportunities, expansion regions, and new franchisee prospects
- Oversee day-to-day operational performance across all franchise locations
- Ensure franchisees operate in accordance with their Franchise Agreement, brand standards, and operational policies
- Oversee the financial performance of the franchisor business and the broader network
- Manage the annual budget and monitor performance against financial targets
- Monitor royalty income, franchise fees, supplier rebates, and operating costs
- Lead the franchisee recruitment pipeline in conjunction with the franchise sales process
- Protect and enhance the national brand
- Ensure consistent brand standards across all franchise operations
- Oversee the rollout and adoption of national systems across the franchise network — including Evolve, Xero, Hubspot, Rivet, and CanI Build
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Commerce, Management, or a related field (or equivalent demonstrated experience)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in multi-site operations, franchise management, or a comparable environment
- Demonstrated success managing geographically dispersed teams or business units
- Strong commercial, financial, and operational management capability
- Experience managing business growth in a scaling or founder-led organization
- Sound understanding of franchising models, governance, and the Franchising Code of Conduct
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills across diverse groups
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
- Current Driver’s License — national travel required
