
As a Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Heavy Duty Mechanic you’ll be at the heart of airport operations, ensuring that the vital ground service equipment is always in top condition. Collaborating closely with the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator and Airport Managers, your role will be crucial in maintaining the smooth operation of the entire GSE fleet. From routine maintenance to resolving breakdowns quickly, you’ll help keep everything running efficiently and safely.
Your activities
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on the airport GSE fleet.
- Carry out repairs and diagnose issues to maintain optimal equipment performance.
- Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and resolve issues with minimal downtime.
- Follow safety protocols closely during all maintenance tasks.
- Provide guidance and training to team members on equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
- Participate in equipment testing and inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Maintain effective communication with technicians, supervisors, and suppliers.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest GSE technology and maintenance trends.
- Keep detailed records of all maintenance activities, including equipment logs and repair reports.
- Manage the inventory of spare parts and supplies, ensuring timely availability for repairs.
- Collaborate with the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator and Airport Managers to prioritize maintenance schedules.
- Conduct Quality Inspections on assets returning from maintenance providers.
Your profile
- A solid understanding of the aviation industry (preferred), especially in ground support equipment operations and maintenance.
- Extensive experience with managing heavy vehicles, plant, or equipment fleets, including effective parts management and lifecycle costing.
- Strong electrical expertise, with the ability to confidently diagnose faults across both electrical and engine-related systems. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of wiring, circuits, and control systems, along with proven troubleshooting capabilities for electrical issues.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, with a qualification in mechanics, automotive, or plant trades preferred.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Maintenance Management Systems is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to adapt to company IT systems.
- Must hold a Trade Qualification
