
The National Franchise Business Development Manager grows the network by recruiting and onboarding the right franchisees in full compliance with the Franchising Code of Conduct. The role provides business coaching and support to help franchisees grow their businesses, holds them to the requirements of their franchise relationship, and reports on network performance to the National General Manager and the Board.
Key Responsibilities
1. Franchise recruitment
• Identify and rank the target regions for new franchises, using market data.
2. Onboarding
• Own onboarding from deposit to doors open, delivering the 6-month schedule of milestones.
3. Franchisee growth and business coaching
• Build ongoing relationships with every franchisee, including regular contact and a business review at least quarterly.
4. Franchise relationship and compliance
• Hold franchisees to the requirements of the Franchise Agreement, the Operations Manual and brand and build quality standards.
5. Reporting
• Collect monthly starts, sales and KPIs from every franchisee.
• Prepare monthly network performance and financial reports for the GM and the Board.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential
• Proven experience in franchise development, business development or franchise support.
• Knowledge of the Franchising Code of Conduct and franchise compliance.
• Experience coaching or advising small business owners, with a sound understanding of pricing, cash flow and business finances.
• Strong relationship-building, presentation and communication skills.
• Confidence to hold difficult conversations and manage performance.
• Experience with a CRM system, and strong reporting and Excel skills.
• Highly organised, with excellent record keeping.
Desirable
• Experience in the residential building industry.
• Experience managing a franchise network.
• A qualification in business, commerce or a related field.
